Thanks Christine! I'm in the final laps of getting my audiobook mastered. It's taking a long time because of the learning curve, figuring out my process, and also - you know - I'm picky! I want it to be the best I can make it. Thanks for commenting!
Yes, the reality of recording and editing is it takes FOREVER!! Even when editing podcast or Books & Beer recordings it takes forever--and I'm not striving for any level of perfection with those the way you have to for an audiobook. So more power to you for taking this on!! I'm sure the finished product will be fabulous!
I both admire and sympathize with you. This is a great challenge. I can't imagine trying to do all the different voices and making my sentence modulations interesting.
I loved reading to my kids, read every Harry Potter book to them. . . Some 5000ish pages? And was in community theater for about 10 years. It's fun for me and I needed to get back to the things I enjoy about writing. 😄
I have another friend who set up a recording studio in her home, and she has similar comments about the process. I consider myself FOREWARNED! At least you still have a smile on your face!
Good info. I know how important it is to HIRE this done, LOL. Thanks so much for sharing this journey. Very instructive and helpful!

Thanks Val! Probably why it also costs bank. And since the work isn't that tough, I'll just pace it. Slow and steady ....right?

Learning curve, for sure, but it's still fun.
I can't even fathom what it takes to narrate an audiobook. It's not just about reading the material—the entire production process boggles my mind.
Thanks Laurie, I wouldn't have gone into it if I didn't have previous experience.
