A yes. ChatGpt. I'm using it more than I expected. The two hybrid firms are: She Writes Press, and Constellation Press

Funny post. It's not easy to think of that many cliches. I know how you feel about agents. I feel lucky to have one and probably wouldn't have gotten her if I queried her as an unpublished writer today. What is your plan is now? Are you going to self-publish? Hybrid? I know of two good hybrid firms, if you're interested.

Always happy for suggestions, Carl. I'm probably going indie with my YA. Why not? By the way, I may have asked the search engine for a few suggestions. (hehe)

Love this post, Tracey! And I do think it's taking back your power and owning your own trajectory or whatever we want to call it. We don't need permission from others to be the creators we are or do share that creativity with our intended audiences. The true test of whether we're 'good enough' comes from that consumer -- the reader . In my opinion, with the state of publishing and some of the crazy things that have happened lately, we don't need the barrier put in place by these gatekeepers who can't /won't take a chance on well-written work by relatively unknown authors. It's all about revenue (and I mean -- revenue is GREAT), but when you see like five new book deals for famous people (who are not famous for writing ha ha) and re-hash of story lines (and sequel after sequel) -- well they know what makes money. And it's nearly impossible to break through that barrier. You've got this -- cannot wait for your next book!

Your books are fabulous and I’m happy to hear that you’re trying out another path. And you’re not kidding about the remakes. When I worked at Disney casting years ago, they were reading redoing that darn cat and Mr. Magoo. Seriously.

Hi Jackie! I mean, I get trying for a new generation of "fans". But sometimes what was old isn't new again. And it feels like it keeps us stuck.

I'm glad you're seeing the positive side of indie publishing where you're in charge! I guess we're bound to repeat stories since there are only so many archetypical plots and characters out there.

I know. But...I want something different.

Same here! I've thought about that often, too

I do like the occasional ironic use of cliches but I agree with approaching writing with creativity.
