Publishing Forewarned, week #20

Today I'm sharing how to add your reviews to a second edition book on KDP.

“Reviews are the bread and butter of authors,” an author once told me. So when you publish your second or third edition, you’ll want to get those reviews on your Amazon page. Here’s how to do that. And you may need to reach out to Amazon’s customer service for help.

For your reference, here are the steps to transfer reviews from an earlier book edition on Amazon. Please note, this is not a magic bullet. It will take time.

  1. Make sure the details (Title, author name, content to within %96) are the same for both books.

  2. Go to your Author Central account and click on the new edition.

  3. Click on either the eBook or the Paperback edition.

  4. Scroll down to the tiny words, “Contact us.”

  5. Bear with me, Amazon will make you jump through hoops, but you should now be in a page with the heading “How can we help you?” Go to the right-hand menu and click Customer Reviews. This will give you more options.

  6. Click the question, “Can I transfer the customer reviews from a previous version of my book?”

  7. Now click Linking Books within the text. Here, you will finally see all the guidelines for linking the reviews from a previous version, to a new edition of your book.

  8. If after your new edition has been live on Amazon for one week and you still don’t see those precious reviews, go to that Contact Us button at the bottom of this last page. Within the text here, you will see an email address. Copy and paste it into your email and use the heading, “Linking reviews to my second edition (or similar).” You’ll need to give them the AISN’s or ISBNs of both editions.

I sent my second request earlier this week and I have not heard back yet, but I will keep trying.

Hope this helps you get your reviews transferred! Let me know in the comments!
